COMICS!!!

Be it "Samauree," "SCUD: The Disposable Assasin," or "Johnny The Homicidal Maniac," we here at DSFC love comics, both reading them and writing them! There was, for a time, a stigma on those associated with comics. It wasn't "legitimate," it was "childish," those who read them were "dorks." Suddenly well known filmmakers are writing comics, comic book movies and tv shows are coming out rapid-fire and doing well, and comics aren't just for kids anymore. Actually, very few ARE for kids anymore. With the profanity, sex, and violence of books like "Preacher," "Strange Kiss," and actually most of Garth Ennis and Warren Ellis's work, as well as the confusing and/or political works such as "Transmtropolitan" and "The Invisibles," with a touch of human growth and emotion found in "Starman," or "Strangers in Paradise," and I can see why kids wouldn't be into it.

It's become a genre of great inventive, sprawling tales too big for a film budget, but as easily captured by the pen as an uptown apartment. It now promotes dialogue, advancing stories, and genuine creativity over a by-the-numbers bad guy of the month. Major changes are being embraced. Robin dies, Batgirl is crippled, Commissioner Gordon gets shot and retires, the entire city of Gotham collapses and is shut off from the nation. These things never would have been considered when comics were what many think comics are today.

This is why we, as DangerSeekers, must buck the trends of those who remain closed minded, and show why as twenty-somethings, we are the comic book generation! And cartoons. We really dig cartoons. We will endorse comics we enjoy, creators we follow, and more importantly, we will join their ranks. We will be creating one-shots, ongoing tales, weekly strips, and eventually hilarity - animated style! So celebrate with us the joy of scribbles as legitimate entertainment, or go to hell and wait. Either way, we welcome you to the wide 4-color world.
