Keira Knightley. Keira. Pat and Keira. That has a ring to it. I like it.
Oh my dear Lloyd. I am thinking back to those moments, those rare and special
moments, when you just know that some new young talent is going to be your
secret obsession for years to come. You'll spend countess conversations
extolling her virtues to deaf ears, until one day others like you (but she
won't love them like she's going to love you) finally pay attention and
she becomes the next big thing.
This has happened before, and coincidentally, she has qualities of two of
the biggies on my "told you so" list. The face is so very Kate
Winslet, and her energy and performance, while less homicidal, remind me
of Kate in "Heavenly Creatures," where I locked off a piece of
my heart years back. Then there's a hint of Natalie Portman in the face,
but a whole lot in those soccer abs. Turns out she played Amidala's decoy
handmaiden, Sabe. Then I saw some press pics of her where she gives off
a very Winona Ryder look, another with a Claire Danes vibe, and I realize
she's the siren's song.
So now she's got a Kate/Nat/Noni/Claire thing going, but she was in a Star
Wars movie, and can act, and do comedy. It's like somehow somebody started
taking my favorite bits, combining them in way my conscious mind never imagined,
then went back to 1983 and made my sooner or later to be bride. I know I've
made claims of marriage before on these pages, but you must understand that
my dream girls will only be able to put up with me for so long.
