She's waiting for me. I'm stuck in traffic. Damn traffic.

No one wanted to admit it first. On that fateful walk back to campus after we had seen THE PROFESSIONAL. Finally, someone, I want say who spoke up: "This may sound sick, but did anyone else think that girl who played Mathilda was kinda hot?" The audible signs of relief filled the night air. We were all safe to breath again. Sure Natalie Portman was only twelve of thirteen when she played the spunky young hitman in training, but her beauty was undeniable even then. There was something more than looks going for her. She was really damn good. We watched her grow and work with an impressive caliber of directors. First there was Luc Besson. She followed it up by working with the likes of Tim Burton, Ted Demme, Michael Mann, Woody Allen and now some guy by the name of George Lucas. Natalie, born in Jerusalem (which makes her even hotter to me), has proven herself as an actress capable of holding her own against more experienced vets. Her maturity and self-assured presence have helped her earn her reputation as playing young characters, with, as she calls it in BEAUTIFUL GIRLS, "old souls". Now she has guaranteed herself a spot in movie history playing the mother of the rebellion in the STAR WARS prequels, Padme Amidala.

Natalie makes good choices and always seems to remain cool and grounded about her future. This should steer her clear of the traps that seem to snare many of young Hollywood's hopefuls. If Natalie chooses a future as an actress, which she has occasionally hinted she will not, than her great talent (and masterpiece of a face) will lead her to many great things. Her "old soul" persona should allow her to slide easily from roles as a teen to an adult and we can expect her to dominate the movie screens and Oscar podiums for years to come. If she decides to slip quietly away, it will be a shame and a great loss to film, but whatever she does it seems clear she will do it well...and do it hot.

Natalie, whatever you want you can have it.

Natalie auditions to play Ophelia. All I can say is, I'd phelia her.

Each lock of hair is worth thousands on eBay. Damn STAR WARS geeks.
