DSFC ... LOVE ... CHUNK!!!!

"Help! Joe Pantalioni scares me!"

Jeff "Chunk" Cohen ...
We Salute You!!

What can be said about Jeff Cohen that hasn't already been said? An actor of infinite grace and delicate sensibility, his name shall live on when all of our stars are extinct.

From his first moment onscreen in Richard Donner's seminal 1985 work, THE GOONIES, Cohen takes no prisoners, pressing his nose against the window of Godfather's Pizza to gawk at a passing high-speed chase, only to then unexpectedly spill his strawberry milkshake all over himself and the window ... priceless.

Then ...

Not a part of the Truffle Shuffle either.

...Now

Ah, the maturation of an artist.

JEFF COHEN
Career Highlights

THE GOONIES (1985)

Jeff stole all our hearts as lovably rotund Goonie Lawrence "Chunk" Cohen (sort of the last-name equivalent of Tony Danza Syndrome), whose crazy stories (ranging in subject matter from little green creatures who multiply when you pour water on them to the time he ate his weight at Godfather's Pizza) are always getting this lovably rotund Goonie in trouble.

Not a part of the Truffle Shuffle

However, the real genius of Cohen's performance comes mid-second-act; after lulling you with his hilarious performance into believing that this is just another funny fat kid performance, Chunk is introduced to Lotney "Sloth" Fratelli (the immortal John Matuszak), the good-hearted if disfigured member of the Fratelli crime family. At first fearful of Sloth, Chunk surprisingly grows to love him, as the two bond over a Baby Ruth bar, and we learn that being lovable isn't always about being good-looking, and being funny isn't always about being a fat kid in a Hawaiian shirt and plaid pants. But it certainly helps.

Sloth...pull...finger...

A rare moment of on-set levity as Cohen and Matuszak remove themselves from their characters long enough to share a laugh. Probably about farts.
