PRODUCTION
We're now in post-production!

7/31/2

Okay, I know we jumped from pre-production to post-production, but honestly most of the energy went into the film, rather than the site. It makes sense if you think about it. We didn't think about it, hence the seven month delay in production updates.

We only have a few pick-up shots here and there to officially wrap filming, the catalogs of footage are nearly complete, and our editor is ready to go. A temp score is being composed, and all of our cast is in group therapy, learning to shed the experience. We hope they forget just enough that they'll come back and re-live it sometime.

As for the dirt and nitty gritty of what went down, that should all wind up on the DVD. We have some interesting plans for some odd bonus material, if we can pull it off. Anyway, back to the rest of the site.

LAST UPDATE

Production has officially begun on "The Driver." The bulk of the cast and crew drove out to scenic Western Maryland this past weekend (Dec 7-9) for some serious geurrilla filmmaking. This was not just because of the amount of footage we needed to get in such a short time, well over a third of the film, but because we actually engaged in a tactical strike against another small film shooting in the area. It was something in black and white about lesbians and pudding, all in French, with bare lightbulbs swinging in the background. We sent them back to NYU crying.

Besides the material shot for the feature itself, we have some nice little bits for the DVD, which already promises to be interesting. Though the film itself is a drama, and some of the scenes are quite powerful, we managed to keep things light for most of the shoot as a way to diffuse, and some of that is hopefully going to carry over well into bonus material. If it doesn't, we'll fake something.

The actors in the film, which I am more likely to tell you about than actors not in the film, really impressed me. Some of our cast comes from stage experience, but no work in film, and several of them have never acted whatsoever. All of them hid that well, as would be expected of one who acts. They were in character on the word "action," gave consistently good performances despite the long hours on this first weekend of shooting, and didn't complain when the food ran out and we had to start eating our own. Okay, we just ate the NYU kids.

We're going over the footage now, and going to start editing while we wait for the holidays to end, hopefully. That way we can get decent match shots if we need to pick anything up. More to come soon..
